Global Day to Eradicate the R-word

Let's all mark our calendars!!! March 31, 2009, is the first “Global Day to Eradicate the R-word.”

John C. McGinley talked about this event at the TV Guide Network a few days ago, apparently. But I missed it!! Pretty cool, though!

So we've got World Down Syndrome Day on March 21 and then Global Day to Eradicate the R-word on March 31. WoooHooooo!!!!

Something very cool....

My mouther-in-law saw John C. McGinley on the Bonnie Hunt show. He was wearing a t-shirt that said Spread the Word to End the Word (or something like that.) So my mother-in-law loved the shirt and asked me if I knew where she could purchase it. I didn't know so I did a Google search. I found the Bonnie Hunt site, and founds TONS of people asking the very same thing as my MIL...where can they buy those shirts!!! Cool, huh??

But I still didn't find where to buy them, LOL. If anyone ever finds where you can purchase those shirts, please let me know!! Thanks!

Did you try cafepress. they usually have that kind of stuff.

I did check CafePress...they didn't have them.

I emailed Tim and Soeren (the co-coordinators of the event) and asked them about the t-shirts. Here's the response I got from them:


Hey everybody!

We are so excited at the unbelievable response we have received in anticipation for End the R-Word Day on 3.31.09! We have been inundated by hundreds of emails such as yours by people across the country filled with enthusiasm and support. However, this has also left us unable to respond to each individual email so we also want to apologize to those who have been waiting several days for a response. We are hard at work organizing a way that everyone can get involved and buy t-shirts, posters, fliers, stickers and more.

So, in response to all your requests to buy t-shirts and get involved, we're going to ask that you give us just a bit more time to make arrangements so that everyone can make a difference.
